About the role

Barita Investments Limited is advertising the post of Data Engineer.

Barita Investments Limited is seeking a skilled Data Engineer to develop and maintain secure, scalable and reliable data platforms that enable trusted reporting, advanced analytics and emerging AI use cases. The successful candidate will manage the end-to-end data lifecycle, ensuring that information is accurate, timely, traceable and appropriately governed.

What you’ll do

Functional responsibilities

Work closely with analysts and business SMEs to build efficient data warehouse objects for reporting & analytics Discover data sources, determine the best ETL approach and tools to bring data into the data warehouse, build data cleansing rules and initial transformations, perform data mapping as needed Design, develop, re-engineer, deploy and monitor data pipelines using some combination of Python, SQL, Bash/Shell Scripting, APIs and other tools. Create and optimize data warehouse schema and tables to meet business objectives Build and orchestrate end to end solutions for data integration from various sources into the data warehouse Drive the design, building and launching of new data models and objects Implement methods to improve data reliability and quality Analyse and combine raw information from different sources to create consistent and usable formats Develop and test architectures that enable data extraction and transformation for predictive or prescriptive modelling

Qualifications & experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience 3+ years of technical experience designing, building and maintaining data warehouses 3+ years of experience in developing advanced ETL/ELT pipelines and data integrations Experience working with large-scale data warehouse solutions, complicated datasets, distributing computing engines, ETL automation and BI visualization tools Experience in building self-service data services

Requisite competencies and skills

Highly proficient in SQL, able to write efficient complex queries and ETL jobs that span terabytes of data. Python experience is an asset. Strong data infrastructure and data architecture skills Working knowledge of relational databases and data lakes (MySQL, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Redshift, Snowflake, etc.) Proficient in data modeling for both transactional and dimensional data warehouse databases Keen attention to detail Excellent analytical skills and ability to combine data from different sources Familiarity with programming languages and knowledge of machine learning methods Strong technical and problem-solving ability with excellent interpersonal skills Comfortable learning and embracing new technologies and languages Effective written and verbal communication skills Ability to work on one's own initiative Exceptional ability to work optimally in a fast-paced environment.
